US President Barack Obama's plan for training and arming thousands of so-called “moderate” anti-government insurgents in Syria is “to create more chaos in that part of the world… to expand Israel’s territorial claims,” said Bruce Gagnon, the coordinator of Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space.
The US Congress voted earlier this month to approve a measure authorizing the Pentagon to arm and equip “moderate” Syrian militants to take on both ISIL terrorists and the Syrian government.
Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Friday the United States needed 15,000 “moderate” militants in Syria.
“This appears to me to be laying the groundwork for an excuse for either American boots on the ground or putting up the money to hire more corporate mercenary fighters to supplement any of the so-called Syrian rebels,” Gagnon told Press TV on Saturday.
“This, again, is trying to lay the groundwork for carnage and chaos and very, ugly, ugly war-fighting there in Syria,” he said. “It really all comes back to indicating that America has really lost its soul.”
“America’s number one export product today is war and what they call security export at the Pentagon,” Gagnon said. “America has become the Nazis and there’s no doubt about it.”
The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, control large swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq after rapid advances in the summer.
